Grid Software as a Service (GSaaS) Applications

Abstract

Drawing from real-world experience building Grid Software as a Service (GSaaS) solutions, grid computing pioneer, Dr. Steven Armentrout, will show attendees how easy it is to build Grid Software as a Service (GSaaS) applications in under 10 minutes.  In this informational presentation, Dr. Armentrout will:
- Demonstrate the ease with which end users can consume and build grid-powered software via a web browser;
- Provide practical guidelines for implementing GSaaS applications at the enterprise level;
- Present real-world use cases of how GSaaS implementations are improving business processes and helping academics transfer technologies out of the lab and into the marketplace.

CV

Dr. Steven Armentrout, Founder & CEO of Parabon Computation, has over 25 years of experience designing solutions to solve computationally complex problems. For the first 15 years of his career, Dr. Armentrout and his colleagues tackled problems so computationally demanding that finding capacity sufficient to solve them was an ever-present challenge.   Desiring a robust, scalable, on-demand computing platform able to handle even the largest computing demands, he founded Parabon in 1999, with the goal of creating a computation service available to anyone with an Internet connection. In 2000, under his leadership, Parabon launched the first commercial Internet-based grid computing platform and today operates the only brokered computation service available in the marketplace. Dr. Armentrout, who earned a PhD in computer science from the University of Maryland, College Park, has spent the last decade architecting innovative high-performance grid solutions for the Internet, the enterprise and virtualized data centers.
